Is it illegal to refuse a paternity test?

In Florida the male does not have to pay child support until the date that paternity is established. They can be court ordered but it usually happens if the mother is trying to get child support. If the child is on medicaid a lot of times the state will order a paternity test so that the child can get on the father's insurance. In that case it is a court ordered paternity test and the dude has to do it.
