Why do people go on talk shows and embarass themselves?

I don't get it. I'm talking about those shows like The Jerry Springer Show and Maury. The guests on those shows are out of control and crazy and they are acting like that on national television. I don't get it. Why can't they just solve their problems at home instead of national television? They are just embarassing themselves. When they leave those shows and when they go back home, the people who watch those shows are going to be talking about them.
